All four presidents took part in the celebrations of “Poznań June 1956”.

23 September 1997 | Official opening of modernized Airport Terminal. Total surface doubled and totalled 2.400 m2. After modernization, the Airport could service 900 thousand travellers annually. 3 June 1997 | Pope John Paul II’s fourth visit to Poland.  Pope John Paul II visited the Poznań-Ławica Airport for the second time.

 

12 August 1996 | Arrival of An 12 Ruslan cargo plane, which brought two compressors for Paraffin Oil and Gas Mining Company, both weighing 105 tons altogether. The plane flew from Calgary with a refuelling stop in Scotland. Length of body – 69 metres, wingspread – 72 metres, height – 21 metres, take-off weight – 405 tons.

 

10 August 1996 | Landing of C-141 Starlifter plane. The Poznań-Ławica Airport made its airfield available for NATO fleet planes.

10 May 1921 | During the First International Exhibition in Poznan, first commercial airplanes in Poland took off to Warsaw and Gdańsk. Beginning of mail transport through “Aerotarg” company from Poznań.

 

6 January 1919 | As a result of insurrection, Ławica became a Polish airport. Approximately 250 working military aircrafts were taken over by insurrectionists at the captured airfield. This fact caused that for the first time in the history of national insurrections the Poles had technical advantage over invaders, which significantly contributed to the success of the Great Poland Insurrection. If it had not been for this courageous act of the Insurrectionists, the Poznań Airport would not have been taken over by the Poles and perhaps the fate of the Insurrection would have been different.
